BOARD MEMBERS

Chairman – Dr. Fred O. Iklaga
Dr. Fred Iklaga is a distinguished scholar and policy expert with extensive experience in international development, governance and geo-economics. As Board Chairman our Board Chairman, he provides strategic leadership in advancing research-driven solutions to Africa’s economic and geopolitical challenges. With a career spanning decade in both public and private sectors, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Iklaga continues to shape policies on global trade, monetary policy and sustainable development. His expertise in global economic trends and Africa’s positioning within the international system makes him a key thought leader in the field. Passionate about economic transformation and regional integration, Dr. Iklaga is committed to fostering dialogue, collaboration, and actionable policies that drive Africa’s development. He earned his Ph.D in Economics from the University of Surrey, UK.

Board Member – Professor Uchenna J. Uwaleke
Professor Uche Uwaleke is Nigeria’s first Professor of Capital Market and a leading expert in global finance and investment. He has held key roles, including Chief Economist/Director of Research at the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria and Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Imo State, where he spearheaded public financial reforms. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Institute of Capital Market Studies at Nasarawa State University, Nigeria and has previously led multiple academic departments. A Chartered Stockbroker and Fellow of several financial institutes, he has over 25 years of experience in academia and policy advisory. Prof. Uwaleke is a member of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms and a Special Adviser to the Senate Committee on Capital Markets. A prolific author and consultant, he brings vast expertise in capital markets and economic development to the African Center for Geo-Economics.

Board Member – Dr. Tope Fasua
Dr. Tope Fasua is a renowned economist, policy expert, and entrepreneur with extensive experience in finance, public policy, and economic strategy. He is the Special Adviser to the President of Nigeria on Economic Matters and has played a pivotal role in shaping national economic policies. As the founder of Global Analytics Consulting, he has advised governments and businesses on macroeconomic strategy and financial management. A prolific author and columnist, Dr. Fasua has written extensively on economic development, governance, and financial markets. With a background in banking and economic research, he brings deep expertise in fiscal policy, monetary strategy, and development economics. His contributions to public discourse and policy reforms make him a key asset to the African Center for Geo-Economics. He holds a Ph.D in Public Administration from Walden University and brings on board his commitment to Policy Analysis, Public Management and thought Leadership to advance Africa’s role in global geo-economic affairs.

Board Member – Dr. Abiodun Akanbi
Dr. Abiodun Akanbi is a seasoned finance and public sector expert with over 20 years of post-graduation experience spanning banking, investment, and economic research. His expertise covers banking operations, credit administration, securities trading, asset management, financial advisory, corporate finance, risk management, and public-private partnerships. A multi-disciplinary professional, he is a Chartered Stockbroker (UK & Nigeria), Chartered Accountant (UK & Nigeria), Chartered Banker, and a registered Capital Market Operator with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). With a PhD in Finance earned from Nile University, Nigeria, Dr Abiodun brings deep understanding of global financial markets, public debt management and economic strategy to the African Centre for Geo-Economics, where he contributes to shaping policies that enhance Africa’s economic and financial integration on the global stage.

Founder/Executive Director, Research & Strategy – Dr. Elvis Ogah
Dr. Elvis Ogah is a political economist with over a decade of experience spanning the private and public sectors. He specializes in researching, analysing, and interpreting global economic trends, providing strategic insights that shape policy and development initiatives. A certified Project Management professional, Dr. Ogah also possesses a Diploma in ICT and an International Certificate in SME Banking and Financial Analytics from the prestigious Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII). He earned his MA in Strategy and International Security (Hull, UK) and a PhD in Political Economy and Development Studies (Abuja, Nigeria). As Executive Director (Research and Strategy) at the African Centre for Geo-Economics, Dr. Ogah drives evidence-based research and strategic initiatives that enhance Africa’s economic positioning in global affairs. His expertise in economic governance, geopolitics, and international security makes him a key thought leader.

Board Member – Richard Assanga Otolo
Richard Assanga Otolo is a Nairobi-based digital innovator with a strong passion for geo-economic development and technology-driven transformation across Africa. He is currently advancing his expertise at the Safaricom Academy within Strathmore University, where he focuses on the intersection of digital infrastructure and socio-economic empowerment. Richard’s work explores how emerging technologies can be harnessed to support inclusive growth, regional integration, and data-driven policy across the continent. As a board member of AfGEC, he brings a unique blend of technical insight and strategic thinking aimed at promoting geospatial solutions, digital public goods, and open data ecosystems. His commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable development aligns closely with AfGEC’s mission to foster homegrown innovation and build Africa’s capacity in digital and geospatial intelligence.

At the African Centre for Geo-Economics, our Senior Research Fellows lead groundbreaking research across six pivotal focus areas: Sustainability and Natural Resources, Digital Transformation & Innovation, Security & Migration, Global Economic Trends, Human Capital Development, and Regional Integration. Bringing decades of expertise from academia, policy, and industry, our Fellows drive thought leadership, innovative solutions, and disruptive ideas that shape Africa’s economic and geopolitical landscape. Regional Integration Cluster – Dr. Timothy Onimisi
Dr. Timothy Onimisi is a distinguished researcher in public policy, governance, and international relations, with a particular focus on regional integration and geopolitical dynamics. His expertise spans policy analysis, elections, and institutional governance, making significant contributions to understanding Africa’s regional frameworks. He has served in various capacities during Nigeria’s general elections, including as a collation officer and supervising presiding officer, providing firsthand insight into electoral processes and democratic governance. Dr. Onimisi has presented at prestigious conferences and published extensively in national and international journals. His research has been instrumental in securing and executing multiple grants and study fellowships. With strong analytical and critical thinking skills, he is adept at formulating and evaluating qualitative data to inform policy decisions. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia and currently serves as a Senior Research Fellow leads our Regional Integration cluster.

Human Capital Development Cluster – David Musa Dogo MPhil.
David Dogo is a multidisciplinary expert in human capital development, banking, tax consulting, and entrepreneurship. David has applied economic and financial theories to enhance business operations and policy formulation. A passionate educator and critical thinker, he has also contributed to workforce development through guest lectures, corporate training, and mentorship. His global perspective, drawn from international education and professional engagements, informs his work in shaping policies for human capital optimization. As a doctoral researcher at the University of Wolverhampton, his research focuses on leveraging Africa’s greatest asset—its youthful population—to drive sustainable development. At the African Centre for Geo-Economics, he leads research on strategies for workforce transformation and economic empowerment.

Global Economic Trend Cluster – Mobolaji Peace Olagbemiro
Peace Olaggemiro is a dynamic infrastructure development expert and global economic analyst with extensive experience in construction management, international development, and trade policy. As a Construction Management Engineer at UNOPS, she has led multimillion-dollar projects, including restoring maternal and child healthcare in Yobe State and establishing a $2.3 million oxygen plant in Borno State, ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and quality delivery. Her expertise extends to international trade and economic policy, having served as a Program Coordinator at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Nigeria Office, where she led sectoral workstreams, stakeholder engagement, and gender mainstreaming initiatives. With a Master’s degree (ABU, Zaria) in International Affairs and Diplomacy, Peace is committed to fostering sustainable infrastructure and economic policies that drive development across Africa. As a Senior Research Fellow at the African Centre for Geo-Economics, she provides insights into global economic trends, trade integration, and sustainable growth strategies.

Security and Migration Cluster – Edwin Ochoga Ph.D
Dr. Edwin Ochoga is a distinguished scholar and consultant specializing in International Relations, Defense and Strategic Studies. As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science at the Federal University Lokoja, he has contributed extensively to research on security dynamics, migration governance, and regional stability in Africa. A prolific researcher, Dr. Ochoga provides strategic insights to African governments and regional blocs, advising on defense policies, security frameworks, and geopolitical challenges. His expertise spans conflict resolution, border security, and migration management, with a focus on sustainable solutions for transnational security threats. With a Ph.D (BSU, Nigeria) in Political Sciences, he serves as Senior Research Fellow at the African Centre for Geo-Economics, playing a critical role in advancing research and shaping policy discussions on security and migration, advocating for evidence-based strategies that enhance regional stability and economic resilience across the continent.

Digital Transformation & Innovation Cluster – Chinenye Chizea CISSP
Chizea (CISSP) is a cybersecurity expert and digital transformation specialist with extensive experience in identity management, cloud computing, and security consulting. She serves as a Consulting Security Architect for the World Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria on the Digital Identification for Development (ID4D) project, where she leads technical and security initiatives. As the former Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Chizea played a key role in strengthening Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure. Her expertise spans vulnerability assessment, identity and access management, Microsoft SQL Server, and cloud security. With a CISSP certification and a deep understanding of cybersecurity and digital governance, she brings valuable insights into secure digital transformation. With an MSc. (Open University, Nigeria) in Information Technology, she serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the African Centre for Geo-Economics where she contributes to shaping research and policies that drive secure, inclusive and innovative digital ecosystems across Africa.

Sustainability and Natural Resource Cluster – Kim Del Kaze Ph.D
Dr. Kaze is a passionate sustainability leader and results-driven researcher with over 16 years of experience in advancing green energy, net-zero transitions, and sustainable development, particularly in the Global South. Specializing in energy governance and policy innovation, Dr. Kaze develops frameworks that address energy poverty and drive low-carbon transitions. His research integrates Community Renewable Energy (CRE) into multi-level governance (MLG) systems, accelerating just and inclusive energy transitions across sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Kaze has led impactful projects that reduced CO₂ emissions by over 300 tonnes, secured grants for sustainability conferences, and championed biodiversity and community engagement initiatives. With expertise in stakeholder engagement, corporate communication, and sustainability strategy, Dr. Kaze combines strategic vision with hands-on implementation. He holds a Ph.D (Cranfield, UK) in Energy and Power and serves a Senior Research Fellow with African Centre for Geo-Economics where he contributes to shaping policies that promote sustainable resource management and Africa’s leadership in global energy transitions.
